Youth, Algorithms and the News: Who Decides What We See?

The regional roundtable “Youth, Algorithms and News: Who Decides What Information We See?” aims to foster a practical discussion on how social media algorithms and digital platforms influence the content young people are exposed to every day. The discussion will focus on the mechanisms that tend to promote emotional content, clickbait, and information with high engagement potential, as well as their impact on how young people access information, shape perceptions, and assess the credibility of news.

Through discussions with young people, journalists, and representatives of local media, the roundtable will highlight concrete experiences from the field, the challenges of verifying information, and ways to develop a more critical approach to online content. Participants’ views and recommendations will also contribute to enriching the study and its final recommendations.
