Elbasan, Albania will host the Platform for Democracy and Peace (P4DP) from 28 to 30 October 2026, bringing together citizens, youth, institutions, civil society, researchers, media professionals and local authorities in a shared civic space dedicated to dialogue, trust and democratic participation.

Conceived as an open and inclusive European civic platform, P4DP responds to some of the most pressing challenges facing democratic societies today: declining public trust, polarization, disinformation and reduced civic engagement. Over three days, the city will become a meeting point for ideas, partnerships and practical democratic action.

The programme will feature a broad range of formats, including public debates and policy panels, roundtables, workshops, research presentations, cultural events, exhibitions, civic initiative showcases, policy cafés, a Citizens Forum and youth leadership activities. Events are planned across key public spaces in Elbasan, including the city centre, university campus and city park.

The platform is coordinated by Peace Volunteering Network (PVN) in partnership with the Municipality of Elbasan, University of Elbasan, Liburnetik Organization, IRCA, Peace Volunteering Network Norway, the Municipality of Arendal, and the Municipality of Kristiansand.

P4DP aims not only to host conversations, but to strengthen civic space and help build democratic resilience through meaningful cooperation between institutions and communities.
